Lauren & Jason's Wedding

Lauren and Jason had an elegant evening in mind for their guests. We chose the historic Grant-Humpry's Mansion for the ceremony and reception!

Getting ready in the bridal suite.

The main staircase made a perfect backdrop for the  brides grand entrance.

The ceremony was beautiful in spite of the threatening rain clouds. A string quartet set the tone with songs chosen by the bride and groom. Just as the couple were pronounced man and wife the first drops began to fall and it was time to move the party indoors for the reception!

The rainstorm kindly blew past allowing the bridal party to come out and pose for a few portraits!

Lauren and Jason's color scheme of black and cream with shades of purple blended beautifully with the setting in the mansion.

The dinner hour was accompanied by lush centerpieces of hydrangea flowers, piano music and soft candlelight.

After dinner guests were invited to the ballroom to enjoy sweet treats and to dance the night away!

The "favor cake" was filled with chocolate kisses in silver and violet wrapping. It proved too pretty to touch and the wait staff had to take it apart and pass them out at the end of the evening!

Lauren and Jason's wedding was full of romance and beauty! Thank you for choosing me be a part of your big day!

Engagement chicken. This recipe from Glamor Magazine is touted to be responsible for the engagements of many Glamor staffers and readers!

Read about the recipe below!

"Back in January 2004 Glamour published a recipe for "Engagement Chicken," so called because soon after staffers whipped it up, their boyfriends popped the question. When Glamour reader Laura Wheeler made it for her guy, she topped it off with her self-titled "Hook-Him Apple Pie." Sure enough , he proposed. Will these recipes work for you? Try 'em and let us know!

Engagement Chicken

•1 whole chicken (approx. 3 lb.)

•2 medium lemons

•Fresh lemon juice (1/2 cup)

•Kosher or sea salt

•Ground black pepper

Place rack in upper third of oven and preheat to 400 degrees. Wash chicken inside and out with cold water, remove the giblets, then let the chicken drain, cavity down, in a colander until it reaches room temp (about 15 minutes). Pat dry with paper towels. Pour lemon juice all over the chicken (inside and outside). Season with salt and pepper. Prick the whole lemons three times with a fork and place deep inside the cavity. (Tip: If lemons are hard, roll on countertop with your palm to get juices flowing.) Place the bird breast-side down on a rack in a roasting pan, lower heat to 350 degrees and bake uncovered for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and turn it breast-side up (use wooden spoons!); return it to oven for 35 minutes more. Test for doneness—a meat thermometer inserted in the thigh should read 180 degrees, or juices should run clear when chicken is pricked with a fork. Continue baking if necessary. Let chicken cool for a few minutes before carving. Serve with juices."

Berit's tips: Give yourself some extra time when preparing this recipe, chicken can definitely take longer than expected to roast. Also, pick up lemons of a few different sizes to make sure you will be able to find one or two to fit in the bird.

From subtle pastels to vibrant hues, brides have more shoe color choices than ever before.

Why not treat your tootsies to shoes in the same shade as your bridesmaids gowns?

Or go bold with romantic red pumps.

For a more subtle pop of color wear a pair of Louboutin's with the signature red soles.

Why not use your shoes as your something blue?

Wedding colors- Fanciful fall!

Good morning! Today I would like to share a fun fall color palette with you. These colors are rich and warm with out being the typical red, orange, brown combo we most associate with fall.

I love the way eggplant purple, olive green and copper combine! The warmth of copper and olive are balanced by the cool eggplant. Copper as a metallic accent adds a fabulous sophistication.

For a formal soiree this palette works well with satin fabrics. For a more casual wedding mat finish fabrics would work better.
